You'd be amazed to know that we left Ambleside, wishing we'd worn more summery clothes, hot and sweaty from a quick ascent past Rydal Hall, in winter trousers.
Our route took in eight Wainwrights with eight unique viewpoints. Walking clockwise from Ambleside we reached Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, High Pike and Low Pike.
It's days like these where the conditions can change so fast, and this dramatic shot encapsulates the changing nature of Lake District weather. A dark line of cloud, visible rain, and silhouetted hills.
Absolutely freezing - and majestic at the same time!
The reflections on our way up Nab Scar on Rydal water were so crisp, with the shimmery water glowing as we made our way up.
One of my favourite scenes to capture are the intricacies of the dry stone walls in the Lake District, and how they weave over the hillside, taking direct routes up, over and along seemingly impossible crags and ridgelines. The Fairfield Horseshoe provides multiple examples of these incredible linear creations.
And who would have thought we were in England? We finished our walk, having spotted a Highland Cow! Out with mates, and while we made sure we skirted round some of them, this one placidly continued munching as I got my photo of him, before our final descent.
